Subject: TNA Hours calculations is not clear on the Timesheets view

 Hi Sanjay

We have a setup where the system calculated hours that do not match our manual calculations. We requested assistance for verification. Refer below setup:

  1. URL:
  2. Login: can use the default admin login
  3. Integration à Device Setup: enabled TI001
  4. TNA Rules: A001, A002, R003 & R011
  5. Processes: ESS021 & SYS001
  6. Employee Mapping à Henry Miller [E116] à Biometric ID: 1258
  7. Employee Shift: MDS1
  8. Imported File: TNA Time.csv
  9. Verified the Timesheet Login Screen – the system calculated 4.98 hours. Refer to Figure 1: Timesheet Screen

Figure 1: Timesheet Screen

Accordingly, to my calculation the hours should be 6.4, which is made up of the following:

  1. Employee Start is 4.58 am, as it is outside the start buffer of 15 mins
  2. From 4.58 am to 10.25 am = 5.45 hours, which = 327 minutes
  3. From 3.34 pm to 5.31 pm = 1.95 hours which = 117 minutes
  4. Add 2 and 3 = 7.4 Hours which = 444 minutes
  5. From 4 above, we will deduct lunch of 1 hours = 7.4 – 1 = 6.4 hours which = 384 minutes

** Kindly help us to understand how the system calculated 4.98 hours?

We need a better way to see how the timesheet data was calculated so that the user can see how data was used in preparing the Time record

Hi Aarti, To get the results you want, you should turn OFF TNA Setup Rule R003.

  1. TNA Setup Rule R003 is enabled in this example, therefore the computation is not according to your expectations.
  2. R003 transforms "MULTIPLE IN" to BREAK IN. Therefore, the third entry in your IMPORT DATA (Which is a SECOND IN) is transformed into a "BREAK-IN"
  3. R003 also uses the SHIFT to determine the Normal hours.

In your example, the time will compute to 7.4 Hours as there are two IN and OUT entries as shown in figure 1 below. Note that 1-hour LUNCH is not reduced as the employee didn't work during the lunch break.

An explanation for the calculation has been provided. Since no change is required to the system, this case will be removed from Project 13.50
