Subject: Applications force a re-install when files are removed or changed
Summary:    Installation programs such as Microsoft Windows Installer is a deployment technology which ensures that the required files for the system to function correctly are maintained in its original state. This is also known as "self-repair" or resiliency. The deployment technology automatically recovers deleted or changed files in order to do its job.

If for some reason you need to be able to change files and move them around, you can bypass the deployment checking mechanism in several ways. The easiest way is to launch the application directly from the program executable. Therefore you can create a shortcut on your desktop pointing directly to the application executable. If this shortcut is placed on the public profile, this will also prevent the application from trying to re-install when different users are logged in.

Link Technologies does not recommend that its clients by-pass the deployment mechanism as this is a safe and sure way to prevent system malfunction and failure. Please contact Link Technologies technical support if you need further information on this topic.
