Receipts take longer to print in version 8.2.9

Below Analysis was done 

Version 8.19

  •  Receipt was printed in 2.46 sec
  • The reprint was printed in 2.03 sec.

Version 8.2.9

  • The first receipt took 9.01 seconds to print. Reports afterward took 4.51 seconds
  • The reprint was printed in 4.34sec

Changes from version 819 to 829

  1. Cash Receipt, Credit, Layby, Returns and Quote now use one receipt file "POS-PS154-Receipt 80mm"
  2. 8.2.9 includes VMS codes.

HI Rashna, I have tested this on our environment and measured the time from Receipt Payment Save to File dialog popup. The results are:

  1. First Print - 10 items - 5.3 seconds
  2. Second print - 10 items 2 seconds

Procedures execute in under 2 seconds on 829.

We cannot test this on QA1 as QA1 has version 8.3 and not 8.29 as mentioned in comment 2.

We performed this test with 5 transactions.

We noted that the printer takes 7 seconds to print the actual receipt, however, we do have a slow printer (epson 1200)

Hi Sanjay and Alvis,

Refer to Figure 3, for results I got with a client-server setup using QA1 and QA4.

In addition, below clients have been upgraded to 8.2.9. They have reported receipt printing is slow.

  • HBK -
    • HBK is using POS machine provided by LINK 
      • Intel Celeron 2.5Ghz,4GB DDR3 RAM,320GB HD.
  • Lunaeva
    • RAID Server
  • Savusavu Pharmacy.

If required, we can do a GTM session and test this together.

We have investigated the issue and found that multiple subreports slow down the crystal framework to load the report.

To resolve the issue, we have removed all subreports from the 80mm receipt.

Bula Team,

Receipt speed has significantly improved.

1st Print took 2.64 Seconds

2nd and there after took 1.98 seconds

tested with 50 items in a receipts. Approx 2 seconds.
