Subject: Ability to edit "Inventory Valuation" COST in Batch Mode
Summary:    

Hi Sanjay 

As per the development meeting on 19/08/2021 with Sanjay, Alvis, Sitla, Vineshwar, and Rashna.

  1. We have introduced the option to edit the cost in Valuation - Refer to case L12342.
  2. However, it was identified in client databases there are a large number (400 records) of records that need to be updated,
  3. Hence, we request an option to edit the cost using a utility that can update the cost in bulk.

Hi Vineshwar, I had a look at this request.

Resetting the inventory Valuation is a high-risk change, it is something that we do one-off when there is an issue in the system. 

Since this is a one-off reset, we should treat this as a consulting exercise and script this update instead of building a utility for this.

This functionality can also raise Audit concerns about our applications ability to reset valuation.

If you need us to reset KS data, place the DB on QA4 and I can get you a script to reset the valuation as one off-script.

Hi Sanjay,

Yes, we should not be editing the Valuation detail lines.

As for the issue, I have gathered details from the following client databases which have similar issues where the Valuation is calculated even when the SOH is zero;

Hi Vineshwar, thanks for the update. Seems like we need to add revaluation functionality to address this issue. I will review this and work out a solution.

PART A - Development work is in progress

1. The change will be available in version:13.03.0910

2. The following changes were made(Include Database object names, Program classes, and any other relevant information):

  1. Added the ability to REVALUE stock for a particular Line, or a location or for the entire period.
    1. Revalue Option will calculate stock value based on current stock cost on inventory Masterfile
    2. Recalculate Option will recalculate the cost based on Qty and Cost - No change to this functionality
    3. Manual Cost Adjustment - will adjust the stock value by passing adjustments to balance the stock value
  2. A log will be kept for each period stating which user action was applied. This can be seen by Expanding the Period in menu "Inventory ~> Valuation"
  3. Revalue can only be done for the LAST CLOSED PERIOD. This limitation is in place as we hold "current cost" in the inventory Masterfile
