Subject: Reports taking a long time to generate or "Times Out"
Summary:    

When the Sales Summary Detail report and Customer Fleet Statement is generated using the below filters, the system logs out after 2100 seconds and gives the below message "An error has occurred in the system, Please contact your systems Administrator. Error message: Thread was being aborted."

Sanjay's Investigation Results:

The issue with the "Sales Order Detail" report is that OTGL Index is altered and different from our standard indexes. If I replace the index with standard, the report comes up in less than 5 second

The following changes have been done:

  1. Corrected index on Client database and replace with standard index
  2. Add new index for Shift Table
  3. Add a new index for new fields in Customer Maintenance (Category/Group)
  4. Improved Report Layout:
    1. Enlarging "Product Description" which was wrapping for every product
    2. Making the Fleet Summary FONT standard (8 pt) similar to the Main statement
    3. Aligning Totals
    4. Rename the Amount column from "Amount (Inc Tax) to "Amount". Moved the "Inc Tax" to the Total section to give more space to "Product Description"

Statement Reports are best run as Scheduled Reports as they do a lot of computations in the background. It is common to allocate 3 to 5 seconds per client in the statement selection. 

In your example, there are 1267 customers in the statement selection which will take some time.
