The significance of this forum is to guide users in setting up cash drawers to open without having the receipt to be printed. This scenario is reflected where users have set certain threshold amount in POS configuration that prohibits receipts to be printed if the transaction amount is lower or equal to the threshold amount.
To set up the cash drawer ensure the following files exist in the Link Technologies folder of the program files. Contact Link support team if the files do not exist.
- OpenCashDrawer.bat
- OpenCashDrawer.vbs
- OpenCashDrawerCode
Follow the steps below.
- Install the receipt printer. Rename the printer to ReceiptPrinter.
- Share the printer.
- Go to Devices and printers.
- Right Click on the printer and go into Printer Properties.
- Go onto the Sharing Tab.
- Tick on the check box, Share this Printer.
- Enter the printer name as ReceiptPrinter under Share Name.
- Set the printer to No Cash Drawer.
- Go to Printing Preferences, set the cash drawer setting as No Cash Drawer.
- Open command prompt. Ensure the command prompt is directed to the root directory.
- Execute this command to map the printer - net use lpt1: \\127.0.0.1\ReceiptPrinter /persistent:yes. This is saved in the OpenCashDrawer.vbs file.
- Log into Link Point if Sale.
- Navigate to Configuration into General Setting 1.
- Enter OpenCashDrawer.bat under Cash Drawer Open Command.
- Set Cash Drawer Type to RJ45.
Once the above settings have been completed, users can process transactions.
