Scenario

  1. Users use the system-generated product code to create an item.
    1. This is easy maintenance.
    2. The UPC can change if the supplier is changed. 
  2. We have the option to maintain the UPC for items in the "Product Master". Example:
    1. Product CodeUPCDescription
      P1001DSH7899Dove Shampoo 500ml - Anti Dandruff
      P1002DSH2369Dove Shampoo 500ml - Silky
      P1003DSH1258Dove 60ml Sun Screen
  3. When the purchase order is created for the item, we currently print the "Product Code" in the purchase order report. This has the following drawbacks:
    1. Users do not put the full/correct description in LinkSOFT for example, the description for product P1001 can be entered as "Dove Shampoo - AD".
      1. At times the description is altered in the supplier's system.
    2. Suppliers then call the inventory officer to know the exact UPC code so the supplier is sure of the item to deliver.
    3. When suppliers send the invoice for payment, they put their UPC code in the invoice. 
      1. Inventory officer making payment/ receiving the goods need to go to the"Product Master".
      2. Map the UPC code on the invoice with the UPC code on the "Product Master" to confirm that the right items have been delivered. This is an additional task for the users.

Improvement

  1. Can we add a configuration to control which code should be printed on the "Purchase Order" report?
