Change Details:

New World has the following scenario:

  1. Employee have overlapping shifts where they start in the afternoon and end in the morning of the next day

  2. The following rules are enabled:
    • R003 – Change multiple IN (1) for a date to BREAK IN (2)
    • R005 – Create Normal Hours time entries as approved
    • R009 – Mark entries exceeding maximum hours configuration as invalid
    • R013 - System to automatically define time entry as IN or OUT for a day

  3. They have R013 running because in their business scenario, employees take multiple breaks within a day and New World wants to pay employees based on the actual hours worked, therefore, they are using this rule to achieve this.
The above scenario was tested based on the 4 rules currently active and below are the results:

System Results:

R003, R005, R009 & R013 with no Rostering

Employee 100006 starts & ends works as follows:
15/10/2019 – IN – 8PM
16/10/2019 – OUT – 8AM
16/10/2019 – IN – 8PM
17/10/2019 – OUT – 8AM
17/10/2019 – IN – 8PM
18/10/2019 – OUT – 8AM

For each day a separate entry is created, See figure 1. This is incorrect.

R003, R005, R009 & R013 with Rostering in shift: OVLAP

Employee 100002 starts & ends works as follows:
15/10/2019 – IN – 8PM
16/10/2019 – OUT – 8AM
16/10/2019 – IN – 8PM
17/10/2019 – OUT – 8AM
17/10/2019 – IN – 8PM
18/10/2019 – OUT – 8AM

For each day a separate entry is created, See figure 2. This is incorrect.

Figure 1:

Figure 2:

This has become an issue at NW, there have many employees who work in overlapping shifts and their shift starts at night and ends the next morningThe correct calculation should have been; the system should have calculated this one entry starting on the 15th and ending on the 16th and then starting on the 16th and ending on the 17th and then starting on the 17th and ending on the 18th.

New World needs a rule to have the above scenario catered without disabling any of the current rules (this are: R003, R005, R009 & R013).

Please advise.

Development work for this case has been completed.

The change will be available in version:11.4.1119

1. The following changes were made(Include Database object names, Program classes and any other relevant information):

  1. Changed TNA Rule R003 as follows:
Change multiple clock type "IN" to clock type "BREAK-IN" for entries in a day. Shift start time and "Time Buffer" settings are used to determine a day.
    For Example:
    1. Shift A starts at 8 am and "Time Buffer" has 15 minutes before the start, then a day is from 7:45 am to 7:44 am (next day)
    2. Shift B starts at 8 pm and "Time Buffer" has 60 minutes before the start, then a day is from 7:00 pm to 6.59 pm (next day)

2. Affected Areas:

  1. TNA processing Rule R003

3. The issue was caused by:
